MEMBER STORY

Martin

I'm a 40 year old married father of two boys. I played plenty of sport at school and enjoyed the banter of the team. For about 10 years I pretty much did no exercise, I smoked, drank and was generally pretty unhealthy.

Why did you join Studio Fit?

I originally joined studio fit in October 2013. I had been running for a few years and had managed to build up to the half marathon that year but I was getting bored. My brother in law had been banging on about studio fit for a while and he was getting in great shape so I thought I would give it a go.

What Fears did you have before you joined?

I didn't have any particular fears about studio fit, but what I did want to do is avoid the menotony of the traditional gym. Training alone is dull, studio fit was completely different and I enjoyed the variety, camaraderie and team ethos straight away.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

  • A couple of devil mud runs - brilliant fun
  • Massively increased the strength in my arms
  • Finally got to see my stomach muscles (six pack will come eventually)
  • I recently completed my first triathlon event
  • My diet has transformed and is being sustained

“ When my wife got pregnant with our eldest I gave up smoking. shortly after I started running to get back into some sort of shape and to be able to run around with my new son when he grew older ”

What did you struggle with before Studio Fit?

I struggled with anything except running as I knew no different. I had been a member of a traditional gym a few times and struggled to attend regularly because there was no accountability. Training alone in a gym takes a certain strong mindedness that I just didn't have.

What results have you experienced since joining?

Studio fit made me feel great. I trimmed down, added some muscle and gained some great mates. More recently in October 2015 I joined the BLS program and that took it to another level. After two years I needed a change so I signed up for the strength sessions and that was a great decision. My body shape took another shift and I was finally able to do press ups with confidence.

What does Studio Fit mean to you?

Both studio fit and BLS have been great and although it sounds weird they become part of our life. I choose to be committed to them and the guys make it pay back in spades. The advice, guidance and encouragement I have received has literally transformed my life. I have now set some new goals for the year and through the mindset training picked up through BLS I am now well on the way to achieving them.

What would you say to someone wanting to join Studio fit?

Do it! Speak to the Beer boys and find the program that is right for you. There is something for everyone but you do also need to understand that you are responsible for committing to your well being. The guys will offer support but you have to be accountable.
