Louise

'Don't wish for it, work for it' That's a quote written on the gym wall. It really struck a chord with me. I'd battled my weight for years. But had I really?! I'd just moaned about it, felt crap in clothes & envied my slender friends. Then consoled myself with something unhealthy.

Why did you join Studio Fit?

Recently, I realised that if I want that body, I need to work for it. I started running, which was great, but then an injury after my 1st ever 1/2 marathon 2 years ago took me down & I ended up back where I started.

Then I saw an advert on facebook for a gym bootcamp starting just after Christmas. On a 'full of quality street and mince pies' whim I clicked to sign up for the 8 weeks. Then spent the next few weeks regretting it! A call from Russell put me at ease and I was added to the facebook group which really helped as I could chat to the other bootcampers and we quickly realised that we all felt the same. Hopelessly unfit, very conscious of the extra Christmas weight and pretty gym-phobic!


What Fears did you have before you joined?

On the day of the first session, I felt nervous and worried about looking so unfit in front of people. At least running I know that you'll only see me for a moment or two, but to have people see you struggle, maybe laugh at your weakness & total lack of fitness scared me!

As it happened, it was absolutely fine! It was a special class of just our group and we were all in the same boat. The class is geared so that you work hard but in short bursts. Just when you think you can't do any more, you get a break for a drink. They went easy on us for the first session but I still felt a little sore the next day. Luckily we had the facebook group so we could all laugh about how we were struggling to move properly.

What did you struggle with before Studio Fit?

I used to get easily bored and unmotivated very quickly with my fitness routine. Now I never get bored, you get to learn the warm up and cool down bits, but the middle of the classes are always new and you move around doing different things the whole way through which I really like.

What results have you experienced since joining?

The sessions are as tough as you make it and I always come away feeling I've worked hard but also that I can't wait to come again! In the first 8 weeks, I lost 21 inches and my running times got faster, plus I started to get comments from others and all my clothes felt looser. There are loads of bits of me that feel really toned too that have never been before, it really is a great work out.


What does Studio Fit mean to you?

There is no pool and it might seem expensive looking from the outside, but just give it a go. I can't really explain why I feel I get such great value for money there, I love it but I think you need to discover it for yourself!


What would you say to someone wanting to join Studio fit?

Whatever it is that's holding you back from signing up, don't let it, Studio Fit is one of the friendliest places, there are people of all shapes, sizes and abilities there and everyone is really supportive, you can work as hard as you're able and no one will judge you but lots of encouragement helps you get more from yourself then you'd believe possible.

There is no pool and it might seem expensive looking from the outside, but just give it a go. I can't really explain why I feel I get value for money there, I think you need to discover it for yourself.
