How To Quit Dieting For Good

Change your lifestyle & change your life

I’m not dieting, I’m changing my lifestyle…..

How often do we hear our friends or family say “I’m on this new diet its amazing you have to try it” or “have you read about this new diet, its meant to help you lose loads of weight really quickly.”

When I hear the word diet I just think short term, quick fix, rapid results, unsustainable.

How many people you know have tried a variety of diets?

Well ask yourself this. If the first one worked why would you need to try other diets?

If you have to keep trying different diets surely the underlying problem has not been solved. Yes you may lose weight very quickly but is that diet a long term solution? Probably not.

The likelihood is you will eventually finish the diet go back to your old habits put weight back on and then try a new diet a few months later.

In order to be successful with weight loss you must:

  • Follow something sustainable.
  • Think long term, not short term.
  • Be consistent.
  • Change your lifestyle.

It’s a simple fact that you must be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. If you have ever dieted and lost weight you have been in a calorie deficit. But you probably restrict certain foods so much that you end up feeling hunger, craving certain foods and lacking energy. All these feelings will ultimately make you revert back to your old eating habits and put the weight back on.

To be successful you need to control hunger, energy and cravings whilst being in a calorie deficit. Do that and you will be successful and you will never have to “DIET” again.

You’re thinking how the hell do you do that?

Here are some simple tips:

  • Eat protein with every meal. This will help to keep you feeling fuller for longer and maintain your lean mass whilst reducing calories
  • Increase your vegetable consumption. This will help to increase energy levels and allow the body to function at its optimum.
  • Understand portion sizes. You need to be in a calorie deficit, but you don’t have to count calories. Follow this simple hand guide: 2 palms of protein, 1 cupped handful of carbohydrate, 1 thumb of fats, 2 fists of veggies.
  • Follow the 90% rule. Treat yourself every now and again. You deserve it. That will keep the cravings away.

So there it is the not so magic formula to losing weight. Change your lifestyle, be consistent and you will experience long-term success.

Now I’m off to have a coffee and brownie. Got to love the 90% rule.
